In October 2018, this rich tapestry culminates in one of the largest Valletta 2018 projects. There will be an open-air parcours/procession featuring animals and mythical creatures, created by the local communities during the workshops, and an operatic performance, that weaves together cultures, music and languages from around the world.
In an introductory workshop, Martina Winkel, the co-artistic director and librettist of the project, will introduce the stories of Orfeo & Euridice and Layla & Majnun to the raconteurs.Theatre directors, choreographers, video/media artists, musicians, rap artists, hip hoppers, visual artists are all welcome to discuss how to collaborate in a long process of co-creation as well as how to work on the themes of love, loss, and longing, through the engagement of communities.
The purpose of these sessions is to select and develop a pool of local raconteurs, working in different sectors/genres and ideally experienced in working in participatory situations, who could take on the role of workshop leaders during the creative workshop process with the communities.
You’re welcome to join any one of these three sessions indicated below. Attendance is free of charge.
The raconteurs who will be selected following the workshops will be remunerated for the workshops that they will lead with communities. The schedule of these workshops that the leaders will be specified once the selection process has been finalised.
Kindly complete the form to register your attendance listed below by no later than 26th September 2017. The workshops will be held at
