YWCA Shadow Day Cal Mentor Sign-Up 2020
Cal students, please fill out the application form below.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: FRIDAY, MARCH 6, 2020 BY 5PM.
This year, Shadow Day is on Wednesday, April 8th, 2020 from approx. 8:30am-3:30pm.
Are you a UC Berkeley student who is passionate about increasing access for underrepresented youth to pursue higher education? Our mission at the YWCA Berkeley/Oakland is to eliminate racism and empower women, which is why for more than 25 years, we have hosted our Annual Shadow Day.
Shadow Day brings together 300 high school students from neighboring communities (Oakland, Richmond and the greater East Bay), and 300 current UC Berkeley students who are matched in one-on-one pairs for a day of shadowing classes, attending workshops, and getting support with learning how to apply and pay for college. Shadow Day aims to increase access, equity, and representation within the university system, and is an opportunity for high school youth to learn first-hand what it is really like to be a college student, and to receive support in pursuing higher education.
