OUR ORGANIZATION

Words Heal, Inc. - The Sadie Peterson Delaney Literary Collaborative is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to impact loneliness and social isolation through the use of carefully select books and media.  

We create and support access to resources that reflect the lived experiences of people of color, of faith, of advanced age or who live with disabilities.

We promote the therapeutic use of books and information - known as bibliotherapy- as connectors against crisis and conflict for informed decisions and helpful action.

Words Heal, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) certified nonprofit organization. Donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.


OVERVIEW

Words Heal, Inc. is collecting the oral history accounts for publication. The recordings will support people to address the challenges in their lives through stories of crisis and resilience from others.

Sharing a story also encourages healthy reflections on past experiences and can contribute to healing, closure and realizations that might not be possible through other means.  

Narrators are volunteers who remain anonymous. Narrators are at liberty to share to the extent that they are comfortable.  We only ask that all information is true (factual to the best of narrator knowledge), does not include exaggerations or unnecessary identifying details.  


INTERVIEW DETAILS

Once this application is submitted, you will be notified of the approximate date that our volunteer facilitators will contact you to proceed.

You may choose to have your story collected during an interview.  Most interviews last for about one-hour.

Alternatively, you may request a link to record and "free speak", at your convenience.  There are no time-restrictions for recordings. Narrators may also record multiple times, during a specific date range.  

Your interview may be used in future productions by our organization or for research purposes.

NARRATOR REQUIREMENTS

- Aged 18 or older
- Able to articulate answers and respond to questions orally (assistive devices welcomed)
- Signs release and agreement forms
