The 2025 VIVA Open and Affordable Community Forum will be held as a hybrid event on Friday, November 14, 2025 at Reynolds Community College in Richmond, VA.  This year’s theme, “Cultivating resilience in education,” explores how open and affordable course content and open educational practices can foster resilience for both faculty and students. For example, how OER can place control of content in the hands of the faculty, free educational materials can make education more accessible, or creating and using OER can foster collaboration, community, and sustainability.

Proposals are due by September 8, 2025.

This form also includes the opportunity to submit to the Forum’s OER Showcase, a celebration of the open education projects from around the state. You can submit to the showcase regardless of whether you submit a session proposal.
