Spoke and Leaf Farm 2020 CSA
Spoke and Leaf Farm is excited to offer CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) shares for the 2020 season!

Are you new to the CSA model? In short, a CSA share is a way for consumers (Community) to receive fresh-from-the-farm produce directly from the grower and for the farmer to receive much needed funds (Support-ed) in the spring in order to continue growing (Agriculture). It's also a direct relationship between harvest share holders and the farmer that enriches knowledge and community around the food that sustains us and that we celebrate together.

For 2020 there will be only 30 shares available for each seasonal block!

WHAT'S IN A SHARE?

Each share will include a variety of vegetables and occasional herbs. Items will include more consistent staples like lettuce, cooking greens, and root veggies, as well as unique veggies to discover and enjoy. We work hard to keep each share diverse while also regularly including favorites. A share is intended to feed two veggie lovers, or 3-4 lighter eaters or those who eat out more frequently. Share volume will vary with the season; lighter to begin with and becoming very full through the height of the season.

Typical Veggies that may appear in your share by season:
Early Summer:
salad mix, romaine lettuce, mild mustards, bok choi, tatsoi, arugula, hakurei turips, sugar snap peas, radishes - various; spring carrots, beets, Swiss chard, Kale, Escarole, scallions, garlic scapes, broccoli

Late Summer:
cucumbers - slicers and lemon; summer squash - various; tomatoes - cherry and slicer, Snap beans, Sweet corn, salad mix, garlic, collards, potatoes, peppers - hot and sweet; fennel, scallions, cabbage, eggplant

Autumn:
tomatoes, eggplant, snap beans, peppers, scallions, onions, garlic, winter squash, potatoes, kale, collards, swiss chard, mild mustards, arugula, salad mix, romaine lettuce, hakurei turnips, carrots, parsnips, celery, broccoli

Herbs and fruit offered when available, but not guaranteed and highly weather dependent:
parsley, dill, basil, cilantro, sage, thyme, oregano
plums, apples, pears, watermelon

SEASON LENGTH

The CSA season will run 22 weeks, from June through the end of October. First pick-up is planned for Friday, June 5, but the exact start date for the season will depend on the weather and other factors. Members will be informed by email of the start date 7-10 days before the first pick up. Please note: CSA shares may start as much as two weeks early. This year seems to be shaping up to have an early spring.

NEW FOR 2020!
All CSA shares will be delivered in reusable, lidded 10 gallon Rubbermaid bins with ice packs (if needed) and reusable fabric bags for loose greens. It is the responsibility of each share member to return those reasonably clean items on a weekly basis at the time of the next delivery. If bins, bags, ice packs, etc., are not returned the following week, delivery will be in a cardboard box or paper bag. If bins, etc., are not returned within two weeks, delivery will be halted until all items are returned in clean, usable condition, and no refund will be issued for missed weeks.

HOME DELIVERY!
We offer home delivery as an option within Portland, OR, on Friday mornings. Please see the map below for delivery areas. Deliveries will be made between 8am and 10:30am. If you are located within one mile of the drop off location, Food Fight Vegan Grocery at 11155 NE Halsey St, we ask that you pick up at the drop location (unless you have a mitigating situation, such as a physical inability to pick-up at the drop site). Live outside the delivery area but within a few blocks? Talk to me about the possibility!

Home Delivery Agreement
Share holders with home delivery agree to provide:
1. A safe, accessible location to deliver the share, such as a covered porch, patio or carport. Please, do not allow your dog(s) to access the area for my safety and for theirs', as some produce is toxic to dogs, and, no matter how friendly your dog(s) may be, they can be protective when a stranger arrives. Delivery will not be made if your dog(s) is (are) able to access the path to and/or the delivery drop spot during the delivery window.
2. To leave the empty, clean, CSA bin with lid and any included ice packs, reusable fabric bags, etc., provided by Spoke and Leaf Farm, by 8am at the drop location. If the prior week's bin is not returned, produce will be left in the designated spot in paper bag(s) or box(es). If the bin, lid, ice packs and reusable fabric bags are not returned within two weeks of the original delivery, CSA share delivery will be discontinued until said items are returned and no refund will be offered for missed weeks.
Spoke and Leaf Farm assumes no liability for produce that is stolen, tampered with or damaged once it it outside of our control. This includes access by non-humans (birds, squirrels, dogs, raccoons, etc.).
