Submit your team application to compete in Southbound 400 2027.
Southbound 400 is a three day, 400-mile ultra relay following the Empire State Trail from Rouses Point, NY to Battery Park in Manhattan (May 2027). Teams run continuously, with one athlete on the course at all times. At the end of each day, teams regroup at campgrounds to rest and connect. The race concludes on Day 3 finishing in Manhattan.
- RUNNERS (8) Teams consist of 8 runners, with a minimum of 2 self-identifying female runners.
- CREW (2) A minimum of 2 crew members are mandatory for each team, 4 crew members max per team.
- MEDIA (1) Media personnel are allowed to accompany each team, however the total number of people per team CANNOT exceed 13 between 2 vehicles.
Applicants will be reviewed based on the captain/co-captains' responsiveness and ability to field a team, the team's experience with racing in the relay format, and pace requirements (each stage is ~133 miles and teams have maximum of 19 hours per stage).
Southbound 400 is limited to 12 teams. If your application is chosen you must also meet the following deadlines to participate. Full details will be released once teams are selected in October.
- Submit team applications by September 1st, 2026
- Pay team deposit by November 1st, 2026
- Submit full team roster by January 1st, 2027
- Pay remaining team registration fee by January 1st, 2027
- Failure to meet ANY of the payment deadlines will forfeit your team’s spot on the 2027 roster.
