It's not a contest, it's open to anyone in the St. John's area, and it's free to participate.
1. SIGN UP Sign up form below! 2. WRITE 5 MINUTESWrite 5 minutes of new stand-up material. Dig up traumatic memories. Craft one-liners. Develop a character. Make up stories. Build jokes. Practice, practice, practice. Record yourself. Rehearse in front of your friends/pets/mirror/stuffed animals. Etc. 3. TEST YOUR MATERIAL AT THE BOMB SHELTERThe official Stand-Up Challenge open mic is called The Bomb Shelter at the Peter Easton Pub at 29 Cookstown Road. This year there will be two open mics -- July 29th and August 5. Email firstname.lastname@example.org by the Friday before each open mic to book your spot. Preference will be given to people who haven’t had a spot at the open mics before. 4. PERFORM YOUR FIVE MINUTES AT THE BRAXTON COMEDY FESTIVALPerformers at the Open Mics will be able to claim a spot to perform at the upcoming Braxton Comedy Festival on August 13.
