Sign up for the 2019 Stand-Up Challenge
The Stand-Up Challenge is the RPM Challenge of stand-up. It's a call for everyone — beginners and pros, norms and weirdos — to write and perform five minutes of original stand-up comedy in a month.

It's not a contest, it's open to anyone in the St. John's area, and it's free to participate.

2. WRITE 5 MINUTES
Write 5 minutes of new stand-up material. Dig up traumatic memories. Craft one-liners. Develop a character. Make up stories. Build jokes. Practice, practice, practice. Record yourself. Rehearse in front of your friends/pets/mirror/stuffed animals. Etc.

3. TEST YOUR MATERIAL AT THE BOMB SHELTER
The official Stand-Up Challenge open mic is called The Bomb Shelter at the Peter Easton Pub at 29 Cookstown Road. This year there will be two open mics -- July 29th and August 5. Email elling@unpossible.co by the Friday before each open mic to book your spot. Preference will be given to people who haven’t had a spot at the open mics before.

4. PERFORM YOUR FIVE MINUTES AT THE BRAXTON COMEDY FESTIVAL
Performers at the Open Mics will be able to claim a spot to perform at the upcoming Braxton Comedy Festival on August 13.
