The main event is a theatrical adaptation and staged public reading of Shrapnel Maps, based on a widely acclaimed book of poems that centers voices and histories of Palestinians and Israelis, and of Arabs and Jews in Cleveland. During and after the play, an interactive digital tool will enable audience members to interact with the staged reading through. The play will conclude with guided conversation about the play and its implications for how we deal with polarizing conflict (both abroad and at home), exploring what it means to be human in times of conflict, trying to understand our social and national differences, and seeking ways of resolving conflict in ways that affirm our shared humanity.
The play will be in the Marinello Little Theatre on the second floor of the Student Center at John Carroll University, One John Carroll Blvd, University Heights, OH 44118. Parking is free for guests.
Sponsored by John Carroll University's Peace, Justice, and Human Rights program.
