Short Term Independent Study Request
The ABC Unified School District offers a Short-Term Independent Study (STIS) Program as an optional educational program voluntarily selected by parents/guardians. The program spans the 2025-2026 school year. Students will return to their home school classroom after completing their Short-Term Independent Study Agreement. The ABC Short-Term Independent Study Program is substantially equivalent in quality and quantity to classroom instruction. The ABC STIS students have the same rights and privileges as those attending school in person.

Short-term independent study is an optional alternative for students who leave school for a short, extended absence due to illness, vacation, or family emergency. Students enrolled in STIS for 16 days or more will be enrolled in synchronous learning and meet with their supervising teacher at least once a week via online video, phone calls, or in-person meetings.
