MN Pet Coalition - Foster & Transporter interest form
In an innovative effort to address a critical gap in services for victim-survivors of domestic violence, Twin Cities domestic violence shelters and animal wellbeing organizations have come together—Women's Advocates, Tubman, The Bond Between(Secondhand Hounds), Four Winds Connections, Tri-County Humane Society and Animal Humane Society—are joining forces to save lives and ensure the safety of both victim-survivors and their beloved pets.

Recognizing the profound bond between people and their pets, especially during times of crisis, these
organizations are working together to ensure that victim-survivors of domestic violence seeking refuge in
shelters have a safe haven for their beloved furry family members. Their shared mission is to break the cycle of abuse and eliminate barriers that prevent individuals from seeking safety in shelters by providing a
comprehensive solution for the care of their pets.

This program relies on community members in Twin Cities area of Minnesota to become foster homes and to provide transport to pets, playing a crucial role in supporting victim-survivors as they seek safety.

In submitting this form I also confirm that I have never been convicted of a crime against animals.

The initiative calls for compassionate community members willing to step in as short-term fosters, which is the greatest need of the program right now. Short-term fosters provide care for a survivor's pet for up to 72 hours while a long-term foster arrangement is organized. The Bond Between (formerly Secondhand Hounds) and the Animal Humane Society provide food, veterinary care, and all items needed to care for the pet free of charge to foster homes. Four Winds Connections offers free training and behavioral support to foster homes.
