Our cheerleading coaching staff will host two summer cheer clinics focused on conditioning, skill development, and learning sideline material in preparation for both middle school and high school cheerleading tryouts. These clinics are open to grades 7 - 12.
Clinics will include instruction in motions, kicks, jumps, tumbling, stunting, band dances, and cheers/chants.
Attendance is highly recommended for athletes interested in cheering at Memorial or Bradley in the fall.
WHAT TO WEAR:
Athletes should wear athletic clothing and supportive running shoes to the clinics. Bringing cheer shoes is also encouraged.
WHAT TO BRING:
Please bring plenty of water, and it is strongly recommended to bring a yoga mat or large beach towel for stretching and ground conditioning activities.
While we will rotate indoors at times, the majority of the clinics will take place outdoors. If necessary, athletes should wear sunscreen and bring their own for reapplication, as coaches are not permitted to apply sunscreen.
REGISTRATION:
Registration through this form is required for both the middle school and high school cheer clinics.
There is no charge to participate.
WHAT TO DO OUTSIDE OF THE CLINICS:
In addition to the clinics, athletes are encouraged to run approximately 3 miles per week, with the goal of achieving a 9-minute mile before tryouts.
Weekly tumbling sessions are currently available for Memorial and Bradley athletes at Cheer Combine. Search for the class titled "Bradley Tumbling" on Mondays and Wednesdays. You can sign up directly on their website: cheercombinetraininggym.com
WHAT COACHES ARE LOOKING FOR AT TRYOUTS:
Strong motions, great showmanship, jumps with proper form, and a consistent, solid back handspring is strongly encouraged prior to football cheer tryouts.
