Adult Workshop Descriptions

  • Writing is Not a Luxury (Ages 18 & up) with Shawn - In Person; Saturday, July 12 from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM ET: This writing workshop series is an opportunity for us to not only write but also to discuss why this art is so vital. In 1985, Audre Lorde wrote, “…[W]omen have survived. As poets. And there are no new pains. We have felt them all already.” Her famous essay, “Poetry is Not a Luxury,” has become a staple of the literary canon. While Lorde wrote decades ago, her words still resonate with us today. In this workshop, we will discuss how creative writing is a necessity, and how we can use this art as a means of hope, survival, and community. This generative, in-person workshop series will focus on craft lessons and sharing our work in a supportive and encouraging community. - $50.00

Are you able to attend the in-person workshop "Writing is Not a Luxury" on Saturday, July 12th from  2:00 PM - 4:00 PM ET?
