Directions:
From US Hwy 15-501, turn onto Durham-Eubanks Road. If coming from
Chapel Hill, this will be a left turn before the Haw River. If coming
from Pittsboro, this will be a right turn after crossing the Haw River.
Follow Durham-Eubanks Road to the stop sign. Go straight at the stop
sign and continue uphill on Bynum Church Road past the church and then
downhill to the large State Parks parking lot on the right.
Description:
NC State Parks is offering a combination canoe paddle and cleanup at
the Lower Haw River State Natural Area on Earth Day. Paddle the Haw in a
tandem canoe while cleaning up trash in the river along the way. After a
short introduction, the paddle trip will launch at the Bynum Mill
Access and take out about 3.4 miles downstream at the US 64 Haw River
Canoe Access, with a shuttle ride back to Bynum Mill Access. Bring your
own snacks/lunch and drinking water for a short lunch stop along the
river. NC State Parks will provide the canoes and life jackets.
Estimated total time for the event including introduction, lunch stop,
paddling, and shuttle ride back is approximately 4 hours total. Guide is
Sean Higgins, Interpretation & Education Manager with NC State Parks.
Maximum: Space is limited to 10 people.

In consideration of my voluntary participation in the event offered by
Friends of Lower Haw River (“FLOHA”), I hereby assume the risks
associated with such participation and on behalf of myself, my estate,
my agents, and my heirs, I release FLOHA from any and all liability on
account thereof. I also consent to the use by FLOHA of my name and
photographic image in any promotional materials created or used by FLOHA
in connection with its purpose and mission, including, without
limitation, social media sites such as Facebook and Instagram.
Parents/Guardians must sign for minor children.
