This is a trilogy, but if you are only interested in reading book 1, that is totally fine. There is no cliff hanger ending. The books have been professionally translated from English.
The series is set in a dark dystopian world, where governments decree that the world is overpopulated, and each book explores ever more sinister methods to try and reduce the number of people. In book 1, Donate, it is decided that for every child born, a life must be sacrificed to make room. Reviews have likened the series to a Handmaid's Tale and Black Mirror.
