Johnnie Cruise Mercer is looking for 4-7 Movement Artists for a series of rehearsals, sharings, and performances between Oct 2022-June 2023!
Johnnie Cruise Mercer is looking to work with a team of four-seven BIPOC movement artists from different movement aesthetics, backgrounds, and practices. Movement artists must have an interest in working with voice, memory, and media in intimate yet collaborative processes.
Artists will be asked to create in community alongside Mercer, The IAMI Collective, and various poets, composers, DJs, media artists, and videographers. The period of commitment will include a sharing on Nov 6th, 2022 at Center for Performance Research, a youth-based performance on February 2nd, 2023 at the 92NY’s Kaufman Concert Hall, and conclude with the creation of “The Decade from Hell…” (a movement theater documentary work created in collaboration with long time dance film collaborator, Torian Ugworji) set to premiere at Gibney on June 15th-17th 2023.

Movement artists must be willing/able to commit to rehearsals, sharings, and performances in New York City from Oct 2022-June 2023. Rehearsal/Creative Session times are negotiable depending on casting etc. Performances and Sharings are required for consideration.
