No prior experience is necessary!
We believe that our auditions are a time not only for us to assess how well you suit us, but (perhaps more importantly) for you to assess how well Stanford Taiko suits you. This is the main concept behind Stanford Taiko’s two-week audition process. Auditions consist of:
(1) Auditions Day 1 held from 7:45pm - 11:00pm on Monday, October 2nd (held in Dinkelspiel Auditorium). Here you will be introduced to the basics of taiko, and be taught a song that you will perform during the first round of auditions.
(2) First round auditions cuts held from 7:45pm - 11:00pm on Tuesday, October 3rd (held in Braun 102, 105).
For those that pass the first round of auditions, you will practice with our group for the next two and a half weeks! Our practices are held Mondays and Thursdays from 7:45pm - 11:00pm (held in Braun Rehearsal Hall). These are our normal (and mandatory) practice times during the year, and all are a mandatory part of your audition. There will also be optional practice on Sundays 6:30pm - 9:30pm in Braun Rehearsal Hall.
(3) Final round auditions held from 7:45pm - 11:00pm on Thursday, Oct. 19 (Location TBD)
If you would like a chance to get exposed to taiko outside of (or in addition to!) auditions, please come to our Fall Open Workshop! The workshop will be held from 1:00pm - 3:00pm on Sunday, October 1st (held in Dinkelspiel Auditorium).
We will be handing out flyers for these events throughout NSO :)
