Simmons University School of Library and Information Science welcomes Dr. Sandra Hirsh, Director of the School of Information at San José State University, as the 2024 Allen Smith Visiting Scholar. Hirsch will spend a week at Simmons SLIS this October sharing her research around the future of libraries. Hirch's keynote and panel discussion will take place on October 7th and October 10th in room C-503 of the Management and Academic Building. Both events will conclude with a small reception outside of C-503.

Drawing on key insights from library leaders in the recently published Library 2035: Imagining the Next Generation of Libraries (March 2024), Dr. Sandra Hirsch explores the lessons learned over the past decade and forecasts the opportunities, strengths, and challenges that lie ahead with emphasis on the future of reference and public services.

In keeping with the legacy of Allen Smith, panelists will pay special attention to the future of reference and public services.
