MGRC: XLR Application
MGRC: XLR is an intensive, 3-day-weekend version of Miami Girls Rock Camp - for adults!

If you've ever wanted to be in a band, if you've always wanted to learn an instrument or improve the skills you already have, if you'd like to have fun being creative with other folks, then MGRC: XLR is for you! You'll get instrument instruction from established local musicians, form a band, and work together to write and perform an original song in just three days, regardless of skill level.

There is absolutely no musical experience necessary and all instruments are provided. If you already play and want to bring your own instrument, that's cool, too.

XLR stands for non-binary (X) and “ladies” rock (LR). We follow Ladies Rock Camp Boston’s lead in upending the meaning of the word “lady” by creating an environment that promotes the antithesis of what we have been told it means to behave as one: Loud, possibly uncouth, and definitely less than demure. XLR is for all women - trans & cis - and non-binary adults, aged 18 and over, who want to rock out while supporting MGRC!

All proceeds from XLR go directly to helping Miami Girls Rock Camp (MGRC) continue to provide programming for Miami’s girls and non-binary youth, using music as a tool to promote self-expression, empathy, and empowerment.

Be a part of MGRC history and apply for our very first cohort. Our inaugural session of MGRC: XLR is October 11-13, 2019, and will culminate in a showcase concert on the evening of October 13th at the storied and iconic Churchill's Pub. Channel that inner rock star for a weekend of bonding, stretching past your comfort zone, expanding your horizons, and having a ton of fun in the process.

The cost for XLR is $500 and includes the intensive weekend’s coaching, instruments, workshops, snacks, and rock show at Churchill's! We always want to be as inclusive as possible, so will have a few spaces reserved on a sliding scale. This is a fundraiser for MGRC programming, so unfortunately sliding scale spaces will be limited. MGRC will enthusiastically accept your donation if you are able to pay more! Also, since this is a fundraiser and we are a non-profit organization, the cost is tax-deductible!

***1/2 of the fee is due within two weeks of being notified of your acceptance and the remaining 1/2 will be due 2 weeks before XLR starts, on September 27th ***
