Register for: GLHRC Presents "Never Again: Bosnia," a Virtual Discussion with Author Jordan Steven Sher
Genocide is not, sadly, a phenomenon of the distant past. The cycle of repression, exclusion, elimination, and denial--and the refugee experience of the survivors--has been repeated in many countries around the globe since the Holocaust.

The Greater Lafayette Holocaust Remembrance Committee is pleased to announce a virtual discussion with Jordan Steven Sher, author of And Still We Rise: A Novel about the Genocide in Bosnia.

This event will be held via Zoom on December 9, 2021 from 7:00 - 8:30 pm EST.

During the conflict in Bosnia from 1992 to 1995, an estimated 100,000 people were killed. Approximately 80 percent of the civilians killed were Bosnian Muslims. Sher's book is a fictional account of one family's experience of the horror and brutality of the 1992-1995 genocide against the Bosniaks. Sher will outline the history of the former Yugoslavia and the genocide in Bosnia in a slide presentation. A conversation with Nick Schenkel, Director of the West Lafayette Public Library, and a Q/A session led by Rebekah Klein-Pejšová, Professor of History and Jewish Studies at Purdue University, will follow Sher's presentation.

To join the Zoom presentation on Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 7:00 to 8:30 pm EST,
