Seeking your artistic soulmate?
The Kyma International Sound Symposium KISS2016: Emergence will be held in Leicester 5-11 September 2016 and we'd like to invite you to collaborate with one or more artistic partners from the De Montfort or the Kyma community!
If you're interested in meeting potential collaboration partners, please tell us a little bit about yourself by filling out this brief questionnaire. Based on your interests and artistic profile, the conference organizers will propose an artistic collaboration partner (or partners) from the De Montfort community or a fellow Kyma practitioner who has also filled out one of these questionnaires.
At that point, it is up to you whether you'd like to take it to the next step and allow us to introduce you to each other. If you're not totally inspired by the match we've come up with, then no problem! We won't tell anyone, so no one's feelings will get hurt. On the other hand, if you are intrigued and inspired, then we can make a connection between you and your collaboration partner(s) through Slack. Connecting this way allows you to communicate by texting and exchanging files on your computer or mobile device without having to share any personal contact information like emails or telephone numbers!
Once you've made that artistic connection, your team can begin a long-distance collaboration over the summer, culminating in face-to-face meetings and rehearsals at De Montfort University from 5-6 September 2016 and a live presentation of your project at KISS2016!
Intrigued? Then let's get started!

I'd like to use another artist's already-finished work as inspiration for my live Kyma performance
I am open to suggestions. Please surprise me!
How do you imagine presenting this work at KISS2016?
As a live performance
As a paper presentation describing our collaboration and results
As a demo or workshop (not a performance, but as a lecture/demo with live examples & possible hands-on experimentation)
As a club performance
As a poster session or tabletop demo
Any stylistic guidelines or preferences we should know about as we try to find a suitable partner for you?
Are there any deal breakers or show stoppers that would prevent you from working with another artist?
Anything else we should know? Please feel free to describe your perfect collaboration partner here!
Please check: Yes!
Since KISS2016 is all about human interaction, we ask that, should your proposal be accepted, you will attend the symposium to present your work (if unavoidable, unforeseen circumstances arise that prevent your attendance, your presentation may have to be dropped from the program). Also, since the proposals are carefully reviewed by a selection committee, we ask that if your proposal is accepted, that you not substitute a different proposal without submitting the new proposal for a full review by the selection committee. Although, our budget sadly does not allow for remuneration of presenters or performers, De Montfort University has generously offered a conference fee waiver to each principal presenter and a discounted (student rate) conference fee for co-presenters and performers.
Yes, I understand the constraints you are operating under and happily agree to the conditions.
No, I am unable to accept these conditions.
Thank you! We will be contacting you after the deadline with some intriguing possibilities!
