Enthusiastically support and practice the AYSO Philosophies of Everyone Plays™, Good Sportsmanship, Positive Coaching and Player Development. 2. Set a good example and be generous with your praise when it is deserved. Children need a trainer they can respect. 3. Ensure that your players’ soccer experience is one of fun and enjoyment – winning is only part of it. Players should never be yelled at or ridiculed for making mistakes or losing a game. 4. Be reasonable in your demands on young players’ time, energy, enthusiasm and performance both on and off the field. 5. Impress on your players that they must abide by the Laws of the Game. 6. Develop team respect for the ability of opponents and for the judgment of referees and opposing coaches. 7. Stay within the Positive, Instructional, and Encouraging (P.I.E.) parameters. 8. Create an atmosphere on your team that will provide a world class soccer experience that will enrich your players’ lives. 9. Keep informed of sound principles of training, growth and child development. Develop your skills as a trainer through continuing education and training. 10. Check your equipment and playing facilities. They should meet safety standards and be appropriate for the age and ability of your players. 11. Consult with the player’s parents/guardian when determining when an injured child is ready to participate again. Players under a doctor's treatment must provide the coach a "Medical Release" form before being allowed return to practice or play in a match. The coach must keep the release form on hand for the club to review. 12. Per National AYSO Rules and Regulations, there is NO smoking or alcohol at any AYSO field or in the vicinity thereof. 13. Remember that all AYSO Games are played in a Kids Zone. (http://www.ayso.org/why_join_ayso/kids_zone.aspx)
