in-house rating which will be tracked and updated as they progress through the
class. Players will be taught, proper use of chess notation, how to record
their games on a sheet of paper, how to use the chess clock.
Some instruction may apply to all students, some instruction
will be limited to smaller groups based on their skill level.
Mentor and student volunteers will rotate through the class
to ensure that everyone is making incremental progress in their chess play. If you are interested in volunteering to help run the club, please email us directly.
Topics that will be covered as part of the in-class
instruction include elementary checkmates, Advanced checkmates, pawn promotion,
basic chess openings and middle game strategies.
All, students will receive some feedback on every game they
play to help them develop skills to analyze their past games and use that to
improve future chess play.

attending all sessions to derive maximum benefit. Repeated absence and
tardiness may lead to removal from the chess club.
