The Pride Center of Maryland (PCOM) is looking to assemble a diverse team of volunteers from different backgrounds, age groups, genders, and cultures as we review ideas for new programming and more. We need a team of highly motivated individuals to assist us in achieving our mission of fostering a more vibrant and thriving community for LGBTQ/SGL (Sexual Gender Loving) people who live in Maryland. If you are interested in helping people and participating in important and challenging work on the behalf of your community, please consider becoming a PCOM volunteer.
New volunteers are sought to help us in the following ways:
Collaborative Program
Brainstorming Sessions
Community Outreach
Health fairs and community tabling
Social Media Promotion
Marketing
Event Planning and Execution
Program Development
Being trained to lead peer support and empowerment gatherings (youth, adult, women, men, fluid, elders, etc.)
We will be reaching out to all interested parties in January 2021 to schedule new volunteer orientation and next steps. We ask that volunteers commit to at least a 6-month engagement with us during your time as a volunteer. Committing to 6 months helps establish trust between volunteers and community members and also helps in our efforts to provide reliable support for Center Staff.
All new volunteers are required to attend New Volunteer Orientation before they can begin volunteering.
The Pride Center of Maryland does not tolerate racism, transphobia, ableism, fatphobia, sexual harassment and any type of toxic behavior that may harm community members.
Potential Volunteers are welcome to contact Reginald Johnson via email at
