Crafty Historian: Mandala Sand Art
Saturday, January 19 (inclement weather date, January 26) 10:30am - 12:30pm
We will use colored sand on a prepared surface to make a beautiful mandala design. The word Mandala (pronunciation mon- dah- lah) means "circle". A Mandala represents wholeness, a cosmic diagram reminding us of our relation to infinity, extending beyond and within our bodies and minds. Children’s mandalas are easy to color and decorate and are suitable for young children. Ours will feature concentric circles with sunburst, flower or geometric shapes.
This activity is best for youngsters who can manage small details and patience. Younger crafters may have a parent willing to help them or may be offered a mandala coloring sheet as an alternative.
Reservations are required and there is a limit of 12 Sand Mandala crafters.
Fee is $5 per Mandala crafter ($2 for youngsters who use the coloring sheet).
