Becoming a CIPL member congregation is free and means your institution commits to taking steps to mitigate climate change, work for environmental justice, and support a just transition to a clean energy future. CIPL staff and the larger network will support you in your efforts. By signing our covenant, you join a network of thousands of people of faith and conscience committed to healing our planet.

As a faith community responding to the moral crisis of climate change, we pledge to support the mission of CIPL and commit to one or more of the following actions: 

  • Educate our community about climate change and climate solutions
  • Conduct an energy audit and/or make energy improvements to our building(s) 
  • Make efforts to reduce our carbon footprint or become zero carbon 
  • Green your house of worship and/or neighborhood through planting trees & other nature based solutions
  • Install solar panels and/or purchase clean energy 
  • Advocate for human health and climate, focusing on clean energy, environmental justice and green jobs
