The Elliot Park Neighborhood Inc. (EPNI) is seeking new board members this spring!

The EPNI Board currently has both full term (3 years) and partial term (1-2 years) resident and organizational Director vacancies, to bring the Board to a combined total of no less than 12 members, and up to 20 members (including the 7 current Board members whose seats are not up for re-election). Board members must be at least 18 years of age. Full terms are 3 years long, elected at the May Annual Meeting. Vacant seats may also be filled, to complete the remainder of the terms left by vacated members, by interested applicants at the Annual Meeting (or later, by special election).

The new Board members are to be elected during the open voting period, beginning in person at the Elliot Park Annual Social & Board Elections, on Monday, May 19th, 6-8pm, at the Hennepin Healthcare & Specialty Clinic, Stillman Community Room, Level 1, 715 S. 8th Street; and with remote voting concluding at 11:59pm on Sunday, May 25th.

We're looking for people invested in the Elliot Park neighborhood to bring vibrancy and passion to our work. You'd be supporting the Staff and Board of Directors in shaping our vision and policy for the neighborhood. We're especially seeking residents of the neighborhood, but you are also eligible if you represent a business or organization based in Elliot Park.

Description of EPNI Board

The Elliot Park Neighborhood, Inc. (EPNI) is a nonprofit neighborhood organization in the southeast corner of downtown Minneapolis. EPNI focuses on addressing community issues, improving safety, and influencing development.

The EPNI Board of Directors sets priorities and the budget for the organization, while the Executive Director and staff implement programs. The Board is made up of resident Directors (up to 16) and organizational representative Directors (up to 6), who must be at least 18 years of age. The total membership of the Board must be not less than 12 members, and up to 20 members.

Board meetings are held the third Monday of the month (rescheduled on holidays), 6-7:30pm in a hybrid setting: in person at the Elliot Park Rec Center, and on Zoom. These meetings follow Robert’s Rules of Order with motions and votes to approve policies. The aim of the Board is to make meetings accessible to all and explain all procedures for guests or new members. Because representative Board member voice is important to EPNI’s core work and decision-making, regular attendance is a critical expectation for Board members.

The work of the Board often occurs through committees. As of April 2025, the committees are Land Use & Transportation, Neighborhood Vitality, and Executive. The current joint meeting schedule for the Land Use & Transportation and Neighborhood Vitality committees is the 2nd Wednesday of the month, from 6:30-8:00pm at the Elliot Park Rec Center.  The Executive Committee meeting schedule will be confirmed after the election of new Directors, but will also typically meet monthly. Directors are asked to be part of at least one committee.
