CPS Parent Survey: Questions Concerning the Return to School in Fall 2020
Now that the "Return to School Roadmap" has been released, we would like to develop plans for the fall based on the needs of our community. Please take a few moments to complete the survey so that you can provide us feedback on the plans that we will create.
We understand that your thoughts may change.
We will be continuing to update our information as well.
Parent / Guardian Names
What grade levels will your student(s) be in during the 2020-21 school year? (select all that apply)
PreSchool, GSRP, or HeadStart
If we are in Phases 1-3 at any point during the school year, we will be required to provide remote instruction (no face-to-face instruction will be allowed in Phases 1-3). In such a scenario, would your family need a school-issued Chromebook for students to use?
A Chromebook would not be needed for our family.
Yes, one Chromebook would be sufficient for our family.
Yes, but our family would benefit from two Chromebooks because of the number of students in our household.
In such a scenario, would your family have access to internet connection that would allow your student(s) to get online from home?
Yes, we have sufficient internet access.
We have limited internet access.
We have no internet access.
Regarding facial coverings: the requirements do NOT pertain to students who are "medically exempt." Do you believe that one or more of your students may fit this category? *Pre-school students do NOT have to wear masks. (This is likely to require a note from a doctor.)
I am unsure and would like to speak to someone from the school further about this.
If we are in Phase 4, in-person instruction is permitted but facemasks MUST be worn by students in grades 6-12 and, in some instances, by students in grades K-5 outside of their classrooms. Knowing that facemasks will be a REQUIREMENT in Phase 4 for many students, which of the following statements best represents your intentions when it comes to your students returning to school:
All of my students will attend school, fully complying with any facemask requirements.
I would be interested in a fully online option (offered by CPS Schools at no charge) , for some or all of my students. This could be a temporary choice.
Phase 5 would make facemasks recommended, but not required, for students. Which of the following statements best represents your preference for your student(s) if facemasks are not required to be worn by other students.
My student will attend school but may or may not wear a facemask.
If other students are not required to wear facemasks, I would prefer a fully online option for my student, offered by CPS Schools. (This could be a temporary choice).
Regardless of what phase Michigan is in, would you prefer that CPS Schools offer a fully online option (homeschool) for your students next year?
Yes, for my K-5 age students
Yes, for my JH/HS age students
If you are interested in an online option for next year, would you intend for your students to stay in an online setting for the entire school year, or would you want them to be able to return to face-to-face instruction at some point in the school year (if circumstances change during the year and make you more comfortable with face-to-face instruction)?
I would intend for my students to stay online for the full year.
I would like the option to have my students move from online to face-to-face instruction.
I would need to learn more.
Please use the space below to communicate any other comments or concerns you may have about your student(s)' return to school in the 2020-2021 school year.
