The Bradford Police Museum Group Booking Form

Thank you for your interest in booking a visit with us.  As an independent museum and charity, your visit with us directly supports our museum and helps keep us running.

We currently accept bookings on Fridays and Saturdays, as we have volunteers readily available on those days. If Fridays or Saturdays are not possible for your group, or your group is larger than 30 individuals, we can look at arranging for your group to visit on another day, depending on museum and tour guide availability.

Before completing this form, please read the below sections that outline information about your visit to the museum.

  • Prices & Payment

Prices are calculated based on your group size and nature of the tour. You will be asked to complete a booking enquiry form in the first instance.  Upon receipt of this form, the museum will check tour guide and courtroom availability.  If we have availability, the museum will provide a quote based on the number of visitors in the booking enquiry.

Payment must be made prior to attending the museum, and the booking can only be confirmed once the payment has been received. Once we have confirmed availability to accommodate your group, we will send further information for how to pay for your group booking.

  • Museum location, Site & Accessibility

The Museum is situated in the City Hall, Centenary Square, Bradford.  There is a lift for wheelchair users in the entrance to the Museum, but it would be helpful if when you are booking you could advise the Museum that this will be required.

The Museum is compact, with corridors and narrow spaces to navigate. The Gallery and Cells, which form part of the original 19th century Police Station, are on one level. There are steps up into the Court Room, but with care they are accessible. For those unable to climb steps we have had a DVD made of the visit to the Court room, please advise your guide upon arrival if the DVD if it is required.

  • Facilities

Please note there are no toilets in the museum so please make sure you visit the public toilets if necessary, in City Park.

  • Shop

The museum has a small well stocked shop, where visitors can purchase souvenirs from their visit, including stationery, books and pocket money toys.

  • When you arrive

You will be asked to arrive at the front entrance of the Museum (to the left of City Hall steps) a few minutes prior to your tour start time and will be met by one of our volunteers.

  • Health and Safety

We have a number of health and safety measures throughout the museum, including an initial Health and Safety Briefing prior to your tour, hand sanitisers at various points throughout the museum, and one-way markings on the floor to assist with social distancing.  Your guide will guide you through these.

Due to the confirmed nature of the cell corridor, we encourage people to wear a face covering in the cell area.

  • Your visit with us

Your group will be guided around the museum by one or more of our experienced and knowledgeable tours guides.  All our tour guides are volunteers with the museum.  Your guide(s) will show you the charge office, historic cells, and the fine Victorian courtroom. You will then visit the main gallery and see the exhibitions we have on display.

Larger groups will be split into smaller groups to make your visit and tour more comfortable and enjoyable for everyone.

The duration of the tour around the cells and the courtroom is one hour.  However, to allow for all your group members to move thought the tour, and time in the gallery and questions, we advise you allow 2 hours for your total visit.

  • Our Staff are ready to help.

Throughout your experience in the museum, you will meet several of our friendly staff. All our staff will be trained to uphold our safety procedures and will be happy to answer any questions or note any suggestions you have.  We ask all visitors to be considerate of each other and of our staff.  We hope that you enjoy your visit and look forward to seeing you in the museum.

  • Filming and Photography

Photography is allowed in the museum with the exception of one area.  However, filming is not allowed without the permission of the museum by prior arrangement.

  • Group Sizes

Our standard Group Visit offer has a maximum capacity of 30 people.  This number is inclusive of teaching and support staff. If your group is larger than this, please contact us to discuss options.  All groups visiting with us will be split into smaller groups of 10 or less on the day to move through the smaller parts of the tour.

You will be asked to confirm the number of people in your group when you make a booking.  The museum arranges tour guides based on this number.  Your total tour price is also determined by this number.

  • Amendments to your booking
When you book a group tour with us we either open the museum especially for your booking, arranging for the required number of tour guides to come in and help with your visit; or we close the museum to the public to accommodate your group.  For these reasons we are, unfortunately, unable to offer refunds for no-shows, last-minute cancellations, or smaller group sizes turning up on the day.

If you would like to enquire about bringing additional people on the day, please contact us at info@bradfordpolicemuseum.com with as much notice as possible (no later than the Wednesday before your visit).  If your numbers exceed the maximum capacity for the tour you have paid for, you will be asked to pay for any additional cost due prior to your visit.

We hope this information is useful in planning your visit.  If you require any further information please do not hesitate to contact us at: info@bradfordpolicemuseum.com.
