Your availability for volunteering

We support our learners during school hours in term time. We ask  1-1 Language Support Volunteers and Conversation Group Volunteers to commit to volunteering with us for approx. 3hrs per week (including time with your learner(s), preparation and travel time) over a period of at least 6 months.
If you are interested in volunteering as a 1-1 Language Support Volunteer or a Conversation Group Volunteer, please let us know your availability in the multiple choice below.

English Advice Volunteers usually volunteer on Wednesday afternoons.

The time commitment for any other volunteering role varies, depending on the project you get involved in (e.g. IT Support, Marketing), and may be done remotely and out of working hours.

SAVTE has various volunteering roles: -
  • 1-1 Language Support Volunteer - supporting a learner 1-1 in the home. To enable successful placements SAVTE matches volunteers and learners with consideration to their respective profiles and needs. As part of that process we need to ask you some further questions at your interview. 
  • Conversation Group Volunteer - supporting a group of learners at a Conversation Group working alongside another volunteer. To enable successful placements SAVTE matches volunteers and learners with consideration to their respective profiles and needs. As part of that process we need to ask you some further questions at your interview.
  • English Advice Volunteer - giving information about English Learning Opportunities at the Drop in session for Refugees and Asylum Seekers
  • IT Support Volunteer - supporting SAVTE with IT at a time and place that suits you
