GLCC Dam Crew Members (ages 18-25) are responsible for working together with their partner as a team of two to safely and efficiently accomplish the Lake Huron dam inventory. Dam Crew Members will be collecting data and photographs of dams located within the Lake Huron watershed primarily in the Upper & Lower Peninsulas of Michigan with the potential for some inventory work in Ontario, Canada. Crew Members are responsible for the safety of their crew, delegating tasks to ensure project deliverables are completed well, communication with project partners in the field, submitting weekly data sheets and photos to supervisors, and organization of tools and supplies.
GLCC season is typically 12 weeks long, with potential for fall work.
GLCC Dam Crew will be camping at or near project locations across the UP for up to ten consecutive days, generally returning to Marquette for four days. Tents and cook gear are provided. Meal stipend and campsites are paid for during required camping.
GLCC Crew Members are seasonal employees. They are paid an hourly rate, typically working 40 hours a week (Monday-Friday). Work vehicles and tools are provided by the SWP.
