Lochbroom and Ullapool is a thriving coastal community in the Scottish Highlands. But like many, it faces challenges to continue to be a great place to live, work, raise families, and to protect our very special environment. Lochbroom and Ullapool Community Trust is the development trust for our community.

When LUCT carried out a Community Needs Survey in 2021, it found the top needs for our area to be: affordable housing, jobs, protecting our environment, health and wellbeing, active travel and transport. We also carried out a Housing Needs Survey in 2022 to further inform our understanding of accommodation needs and trends.These issues remain top priority for us. We have working groups meeting regularly to tackle each one against a landscape of increasing challenges.

However, it feels very different in 2024 compared to three years ago when we were emerging from the pandemic. Many aspects of everyday life have resumed, but we know that economically we are facing tough challenges that could reshape communities' prospects and our relationship with public services and private sector funders. It is clear that community organisations will be expected to do much more to support people in their areas and fight for limited support.

We therefore want to ask you to refresh our understanding of what our community's vision should be against the priority needs we have already identified. We are looking at a time frame to 2030 to see what we can realistically put in place by then. Please give us your views below. We are not able to see or collect your email addresses.
