Empowering Deaf Society (EDS) is a deaf-led Charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for deaf people.
We are delighted to be able to continue to offer more of our Deaf Awareness Workshops entirely
FREE to all NHS Staff living and working in Redbridge thanks to extra funding we have received from NHS North East London ICB
. A workshop would normally cost £600 per group of 15-20 or £30 for individual spaces.
Our Deaf Awareness workshop consists of two 1-hour sessions.
- Session 1 - Deaf Awareness Introducing the issues and barriers faced by deaf people, and highlighting strategies to improve communication skills with colleagues, patients and service users who are affected with a hearing loss.
- Session 2 - British Sign Language (BSL) An introduction to BSL skills to use when communicating with Deaf patients and service users.
You can access the workshops in 2 ways. Either:
1) Booked as a private group session for your practice/clinic. Online or in person. 15-20 staff required.
or
2) Booked for individual NHS staff members via our monthly online workshops. We are currently accepting individual bookings until December 2026.
