Climate Change and the Public within the United Kingdom
I am carrying out a research project at Northumbria University, looking at people’s perception, reaction and engagement towards climate change within the United Kingdom. There is a consensus within the scientific community that current climate change is as a result of anthropogenic activity. Cook et al. (2013) argues that 97 percent of published academic literature supports the idea of anthropogenic climate change. However, the level of acceptance amongst the public is much lower. This lower levels of perception that anthropogenic climate change is occurring, results in fewer people both reacting and engagement with climate change and its effects. Therefore, this questionnaire will look at the levels of understanding and reaction of the public towards climate change. The findings of the research will be written up in my Doctoral Thesis and other future publications.
