Oasis Farm & Fishery, in partnership with Grow Pittsburgh and Chatham, are excited to launch an affordable Deeply Rooted Veggie Share that provides a box of locally-grown, seasonal produce to residents bi-weekly, with the option to add on local valued added products. This program, aims to conveniently increase Pittsburgh residents’ access to healthy, fresh foods while supporting local community-based organizations that prioritize grassroots engagement and environmental justice.

Oasis Farm & Fishery is excited to continue offering our affordable veggie share, a box of locally-grown, seasonal produce. This program aims to conveniently increase Homewood residents’ access to healthy, fresh foods while supporting local community-based organizations that prioritize grassroots engagement and environmental justice.

Each Deeply Rooted Veggie Share box, prepared and delivered on a bi-weekly basis, will include a curated selection of in-season fruits and vegetables grown by The Bible Center’s Oasis Farm & Fishery Chatham and Grow Pittsburgh. Veggie Subscription customers can expect 8 to 10 produce items in each box weighing in at 4 lbs total and valued at approximately $25.

The Deeply Rooted Veggie Share will operate from May 13, 2022 to November 4, 2022. Customers have the option to choose between a full share, which will receive twelve boxes over the course of the 6 months, or a half share, which will receive six boxes of produce over the course of six months.

We believe that access to fresh, healthy food is a right and should not be limited by economic status. It is with this in mind that we offer a sliding scale of payment options. All The Deeply Rooted Veggie Shares will receive the same amount and quality of produce (5 lb box containing 8 to 10 items valued at approximately $25) regardless of the price you pay, but community members are provided with the opportunity to participate at the level of financial commitment they are comfortable with.

Together, we share a vision and commitment to a healthy future for Homewood. Oasis Farm & Fishery is a leader in workforce development, supporting Homewood residents interested in pursuing a green industry career. An Investment in The Deeply Rooted Veggie Share is an investment in the shared missions of The Bible Center.

MEMBER AGREEMENT *

Please note you must check all boxes to register for the 2023 The Deeply Rooted Veggie Share

Member commits to regular and clear communication with Homewood Collective. For example, customers will complete order confirmation week prior to pick-up or delivery OR will notify Homewood Collective if need to arrange separate receival accommodations due to vacation, emergency, etc. arises.

Member commits to share in the risks of the Veggie Subscription and recognizes that risks may result in receival of incomplete shares or the program termination due to unforeseen circumstances. As an urban agriculture project, the Veggie Subscription is subject to unique risks including chance of crop loss to weather, pests, or disease; limited production capacity or resources; lack of staff capacity; and more.

Member commits to pay Subscription cost as outlined above. This payment is non-refundable in the event that shared risks result in receival of incomplete shares or the program termination due to unforeseen circumstances.

Member commits to consume items included in share AT OWN RISK. Customer acknowledges that food production, distribution and preparation carry with them inherent risks that include but are not limited to health hazards resulting from improper transport, handling and storage. Customer releases The Bible Center, Operation Better Block, Inc., and any affiliates from all responsibility for consequences related to consumption of items included in Veggie Subscriptions. The customer should review and abide by the FDA food safety recommendations.

Member recognizes that Homewood Collective reserves the right to end the customer’s participation in the 2022 Veggie Subscription program at any time. Failure to comply with the commitments outlined above may be grounds for termination of customer participation. Should participation end, the customer’s shares for the remainder of the 2022 season will be forfeited and made available to individuals on the customer waitlist.
