CELT PHOTOVOICE PROJECT
In this CELT (Community Engaged Learning & Teaching) initiative, students in a Psychology seminar class and members of the organization (NSAR) will collaborate together in a PhotoVoice Project in the Winter 2018 semester. The project will lead the participants through interactive workshops, discussions and creative thinking and activities to develop photo-based posters on a topic. The project will culminate in a public exhibit at Ryerson University.
TOPIC - The broad topic for this year’s project will be : “What/where is safe?; what/where is not safe?” Participants will provide input to refine and finalize this topic in the first session.
BENEFITS OF PARTICIPATION: The project provides an opportunity to express ideas around a topic relevant to young persons and the larger community and contribute to public dialogue and awareness.
All participants will benefit by learning new skills; have the opportunity to network with other students and staff/faculty members; learn diverse perspectives and have their work exhibited at the final exhibit.
• Support will be available throughout the process
• Cost for the posters will be covered by CELT office, Faculty of Arts, RU*.
• Each participant will receive a certificate of participation.
• All meetings will be held at Ryerson: Tuesdays, between 3-6 pm (exact details will be informed upon selection)
• Refreshments will be provided
PROJECT TIMELINES: Winter 2018
Orientation & Joint workshop 1: Tuesday, Jan 30, 2 hours; between 3-6 pm
Sub-group meeting (Optional): Tuesday, Feb 13, 1 hour; between 5-6 pm
Joint workshop 2: Tuesday, Feb 27, 1.5 hours; between 3-6 pm
Time to work individually & check-in: Flexible, 2-3 hours: Jan 30-March 16
Final exhibit at SLC: Tuesday, April 3, 2018 between 3-6 pm
