Identifying Exploratory Procedures in Programming - Expression of Interest
At King’s College London we are conducting research around making computing education inclusive of all learners. Alex Hadwen-Bennett is currently conducting research around the use of physical programming languages to teach visually impaired children to program. Physical programming languages use physical blocks or pods to represent commands. These blocks or pods can be connected together to form programs.

Alex is recruiting participants for his current study, which aims to explore how visually impaired children use their hands to explore and develop an understanding of physical programs.

If you teach visually impaired children aged between 7 and 11 in the London area we would be really interested in hearing from you.

Taking part will involve pairs of visually impaired learners taking part in a 1-hour workshop, which gives an introduction to coding using the Torino physical programming language.

The workshops would be video recorded to enable us to analyse how the children explore the programs. As the children would be taking part in a research study we would need to send you consent forms for parents and children to complete.
