TDP Fellows Interest Form
Parent Power Fellowship
TDP will support 10 parents who want to create a city-wide parent advocacy group focused on Baltimore City Schools.
The Parent Power Group will be a group of parents who listen to, inform and organize other parents so that we can collectively advocate for the systemic change we wish to see. We do this work through one-on-one conversations, supportive social media spaces, public events and targeted collective action. The first focal issue is bullying in schools.
School Culture and Safety Fellowship
This fellowship is for parent and teacher pairs who are willing to learn how to build a cohesive team of parents, teachers, and other school staff who will work together to come up with a plan to address a school safety and climate challenge at their school. We expect that the process will help to establish deeper relationships within the school community, and that, with the understanding and knowledge that TDP has honed over the past few cycles of fellows, these teacher/parent partners will be able to effectively navigate their school spaces and get the plans implemented.
Funding the Kirwan Commission- state level organizing
The Kirwan commission produced a set of recommendations for education funding that will need to be scrutinized and fought for in Annapolis this winter. In order to be ready, TDP will fund 2 fellows per county to dig into the recommendations and to organize other parents who can advocate. Details TBD. Anticipated timeline is Nov-April.
