The Belonging Resident Company (BRC) is
a performance ensemble dedicated to making the revolution of belonging
irresistible. We activate radical imagination through engaged facilitation,
contemporary and hip hop dance, dance/theater, and playback theater, to foster
embodied experiences of belonging and dismantle systems of oppression.
Formed in 2024 under the Othering and
Belonging Institute, BRC collaborates with Be
the Change Consulting, and Moving Joy to bring frameworks like Belonging
without Othering, Bridging vs. Breaking, and Targeted Universalism to
life. Through performances, workshops, and research, we build solidarity,
promote healing, and cultivate collective liberation.
We create spaces that amplify underrepresented voices, and
harness the transformative power of art to foster equity and justice in both
personal and institutional contexts.
Our mission is simply: to create spaces for healing and
solidarity, uplift a vision for belonging without othering, and activate
embodied strategies for collective liberation.
This fall, the BRC director, Sarah Crowell, will be teaching a
series of FREE workshops OPEN TO ANYONE WHO LOVES DANCE, THEATER AND JUSTICE.
