A sport or activity must meet the following requirements to receive athletic credit:
1. The KDS Athletic Department will not grant credit for participation in non-Kent Denver athletic programs for any sports that Kent Denver offers. For example, a soccer player cannot receive credit for playing club level at any time.
2. The time commitment of the independent sport should average 10 hours of participation per week. Some weeks may be more than 10 and some less, but the object of receiving this credit is to pursue a serious and well-developed interest in an activity.
3. Students must have participated in the activity for a minimum of three (3) consecutive years.
4. A qualified adult (certified or licensed) must supervise the activity and be responsible for vouching for a student's completion of the necessary time requirements. They must sign off on this form at the beginning of the season, as well as the completion form at the end of each season.
5. The activity must include a competitive or performance element.
6. Proposals will not be approved for activities offered as part of the Kent Denver performance curriculum. This includes out-of-school strength and performance classes, yoga, aerobics, and weight training.
7. Credit will only be given when a student submits the completion form at the end of the season. Approval of an independent sport does not guarantee credit.
8. The Director of Athletics reserves the right to deny a proposal if they deem it does not meet the standards above.
