Volunteers are asked to commit for either day August 12 or 13 for a minimum of four hours.
The shifts each day are from 9:30am-1:30pm or 1:00pm- 5:00pm. Volunteer expectations and duties are as follows:
The volunteer should:• Have a general understanding of the game of basketball• Arrive on time and check-in with the Volunteer Coordinators, Kaela Mlsna or Emily Floyd• Have the ability to track time on a stopwatch• Have the ability to record score and flip scoring numbers on the scoreboard (no technical skills required)• Expect to sit for the duration of the scheduled games• Expect warm summer conditions. Prepare and dress for warm weather, wear a hat, protective clothing and or sunscreen• Expect to have a wonderful and rewarding experience watching youth play basketball
The Hoop Jam event coordinator will: • Provide detailed arrival information and location to check in • Provide on-site training for time and scorekeepers• Provide necessary water/food and bathroom breaks for volunteer• Be available for questions and feedback about the event.
