CALL FOR PROPOSALS
This Call for Proposals for the 2023 CDE Equity and Excellence Conference is now open. Proposals for 60-minute sessions are requested to share ideas and plans for how to improve Best First Instruction after the pandemic. Best First Instruction (BFI) aims to give all students the best opportunity to learn standards-based, grade-level content and skills the first time they receive instruction. BFI can be understood as a framework combining culturally responsive teaching, practice-based teacher learning, and the implementation of high-quality academic standards and curriculum along with assessments. Please include BFI strategies within or for any of the following topics:
- Using data-driven instruction and decision-making
- School culture and environments
- Aligning tiered supports and interventions
- Family and community partnerships and engagement
- Mental, emotional, behavioral, and social health of students and educators
- Talent management (educator recruitment, retention, support and development, etc.)
The desired outcomes of the conference are:
Addressing residual impacts of the pandemic on learning,
Increasing academic performance for all students, particularly historically under-served students, and
Increasing the tools and resources available for all educators, by leveraging state and federal funds (ESEA and IDEA).
This invitation is a
competitive response opportunity, and the conference review committee will score the responses using a rubric.
Reminder: Each breakout session is
60 minutes in length. We will email more details after presenters have been identified.
Breakout sessions are held on both November 1 and November 2. Presenters may indicate availability for each day within the form.
