Avondale Basketball League
Avondale Presbyterian Church Basketball Ministry provides Christian fellowship for children and teenagers, helping them to grow in mind, body and spirit in a safe and healthy atmosphere.
Avondale teams are some of over 200 teams fielded in the Playbook for Life Ministries Youth Basketball League. This league is comprised of numerous denominational churches. The purpose of the league is to provide a ministry opportunity for each church and to allow youth to play in a competitive, but wholesome environment where the character of Christ is displayed.

Practices, Games and Coaches
Membership at Avondale is not required to participate on a team. Teams practice once a week (Mon-Fri) for 1 hour usually starting in November. Games begin in early December and run through early March. Games are played at various church gym sites around Charlotte including Avondale. All teams, other than “AA” Division, conclude their season with a tournament in March. A banquet is held for Avondale teams in March in celebration of the season.
All coaches must meet the requirements of Avondale’s Child Protection Policy and must complete Child Protection Policy Training. Coaches set the tone with their leadership & character. Their actions and words directly influence the behavior of their team. We seek coaches who will not only teach fundamental skills but who will more importantly serve as positive Christian role models for the children and youth. Coaches are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship among peers and opponents. Brief devotions are held prior to each practice and games open with prayer.
