WHO IS DOING THE RESEARCH?
My name is Dr. Andrew Johnston and I am an academic at the University of Technology Sydney.

WHAT IS THIS RESEARCH ABOUT?
This research is to find out about the design of speech controlled games and their potential use in speech therapy.

IF I SAY YES, WHAT WILL IT INVOLVE?
I will ask you to download two games onto your iPad and/or iPhone, play with the game to become familiar with it, and, if you feel it is appropriate, use the games in your speech therapy sessions. In a few weeks I will contact you to request you complete an online questionnaire outlining your experiences with the games.

ARE THERE ANY RISKS?
There are very few if any risks because the research has been carefully designed. However, it is possible that you may find the games are unsuitable for your purposes, in which case there is no compensation for the time you spend downloading and examining them.

WHY HAVE I BEEN ASKED?
You are able to give me the information I need to find out about because you are a practicing speech pathologist.

DO I HAVE TO SAY YES?
You don’t have to say yes.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF I SAY NO?
Nothing. I will thank you for your time so far and won’t contact you about this research again.

IF I SAY YES, CAN I CHANGE MY MIND LATER?
You can change your mind at any time and you don’t have to say why. I will thank you for your time so far and won’t contact you about this research again.

WHAT IF I HAVE CONCERNS OR A COMPLAINT?
If you have concerns about the research that you think I can help you with, please feel free to contact me on (02) 9514 4497 or at andrew.johnston@uts.edu.au .

Data gathered in this study will contribute to the ongoing research and development of voice-controlled games for use in speech therapy being conducted by researchers of the Creativity & Cognition Studios.

I understand that there are very few if any risks associated with this research. However, I understand that it may be that I will find the games are unsuitable for my purposes, in which case there is no compensation for the time I spend downloading and using them.

I am aware that I can contact Dr Andrew Johnston at UTS by phone on 02 9514 4497 or email at andrew.johnston@uts.edu.au if I have any concerns about the research.
