USD 396 Student Bus Rules Conduct Rules Form. Even if your student is not a regular bus rider, they will potentially ride for a field trip or an activity. Please go over the following expectations with them and sign and date and submit the form for each student.

BUS CONDUCT RULES
Please answer the following rules to the best of ability. If you Disagree with any of the following rules below it will be determined that you will be disqualified from being transported base on the rules set forth as a standard for student safety.   
1. The driver is in charge of the bus and may assign seats if it becomes necessary.  *
2. No food or drinks will be allowed on the bus at any time unless in an approved container and approved prior by the driver. *
3. Students are to remain seated and facing forward except when unloading and loading while the bus is stopped. *
4. Emergency exits and aisles can't be blocked or obstructed at anytime the bus is in operation. *
5. Noise levels should be kept at a normal conversation level. Profanity and obscenities will not be tolerated. *
6. No bugs or animals will be allowed on the bus, no exceptions.  *
7. Students will not be dropped off at home when returning from activities.  *
8. Written permission is required if students want to ride another bus or be let off at a stop other than their assigned stop. *
9. Students shall stay out of the drivers seat and shall not tamper with any bus equipment.  *
10. There will be no drugs, alcohol, tobacco and vape products on the bus. *
11. No guns, knives, lighters or matches will be allowed on the bus. *
12. Students are to keep all parts of their body inside the bus windows at all times.  *
13. The student or their parents will pay for any damages done to school vehicles.  *
14. Electronic communication/ media devices (chrome books, computers, tablets, phones, etc.) can be on the bus and used but are subject to be removed and handed over or taken by driver or administration when deemed a problem. No pictures and or auto recording of other students will be allowed at anytime. School policy's are active while in a school vehicle. Distractions pertaining to student safety will not be taken lightly.  *
USD 396 Douglass Public Schools must provide the safest transportation possible. Therefore, the above listed rules must be enforced. Violations of the bus rules will result in:

1st Infraction: Driver has a conference with the student concerning conduct. Damage to the bus, fighting, or other serious problems will be reported to administration immediately and documented by driver.

1st Discipline Slip: Administration and parent contact will be made.

2nd Discipline Slip: Administration and parent conference meeting.

3rd Discipline Slip: Administration will notify parent of student removal from transportation for 5 school days

4th Discipline Slip: Administration will notify parent of student and removal from transportation for 20 school days.

5th Discipline Slip: Administration will notify parent and student removal from transportation the remainder of the school year.
The above procedure will be followed except when Administration decides that because of a student's age, or seriousness of the offense, a stiffer penalty should be applied. If a student loses Transportation privileges, they are still required to attend school. All buses are subject to audio and video recording systems at all times and are used to monitor for occupant safety and issues that may arise.
