Free Presentation: The Surprisingly Local Origins of the North American Nutcracker Phenomenon
Did you know that while The Nutcracker ballet came out of Russia, it was a Utah boy that turned it into a Christmas holiday sensation? Did you know that Ballet West's Nutcracker, still performed annually in SLC, is the longest running version of the Nutcracker in the world? Steffanie Casperson, who saw this very version at age 3 and who went on to dance professionally because of it, retired at 20 weeks pregnant with her oldest child AFTER performing in this very ballet for her 90th time (approximately). In this entertaining and inspiring presentation, she'll take you on a delightful journey through Nutcracker's history, AND give you the inside, backstage scoop like no one else can! The presentation lasts one hour and is for everyone ages 8 and up! Monday, Dec 6, 6:30-7:30pm. Location TBA.
