Thank you for your interest in participating in the Paper Airplanes Youth Exchange Program! This application is for high school clubs wishing to participate in the 2019-2020 school year. Our Youth Exchange Program is structured such that tutors can only participate as members of a club at their school, we do not accept applications from individual tutors.
Accepted schools will have access to our tutor training, curriculum, matching with students, and support from members of our organization. There will be a fee for clubs to participate. Please see below for details.
Tutors from these high school clubs will commit to tutoring from September to May, with a break in December and January. During this time, tutors will meet with their student for 1.5 hours per week over Skype, or any other video-calling service that works for them. Tutor-student pairs have the freedom to schedule their own sessions. Tutors will receive a mandatory training and curriculum to guide these sessions.
This application is due May 13th. All of the information you provide in this form will be used to evaluate your application and to determine if Paper Airplanes can support a club at your school. You will hear from us with a final decision by May 24th.
Please note that there is a separate application for Tutor Coordinators that needs to be completed along with this application. See section 3 of this application for more information about that.
For more information visit our website at www.paper-airplanes.org/youth-exchange. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Paper Airplanes Managing Director Gabby Wimer, email@example.com.
The fee will be $500 per club of 7-10 students. In the event that we can accept more tutors from your high school, each additional tutor will cost $50. This fee must be submitted to Paper Airplanes, Inc. by check on or before December 31, 2019. This fee may be produced in a number of ways including club dues, fundraising, finding a community sponsor, or any other ideas. We are happy to provide advice and support as needed.
This fee is an important component of keeping this program running. However, we do not want this cost to prevent any school from participating. Please contact Paper Airplanes Managing Director Gabby Wimer at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are concerned that this may be the case for your school, or if you have any further questions.
**Please note that we cannot consider school applications if we do not also receive at least one Tutor Coordinator application**
This is a prestigious position. To complete the application process, please have all people from your school interested in being a Tutor Coordinator submit the separate application by May 13th.
Tutors apply for the entire year, and the application stresses the commitment to this program. Tutors will be evaluated after the first term to assess whether they are upholding this commitment adequately.
