Thank you for your interest in the Speak Up! Supportive Housing Community Advocates Project. The project aims to expand opportunities for supportive housing tenants to use their personal stories to influence the political environment and public opinion and educate the general public, funders, decision-makers and policymakers on solutions to end homelessness and describe the impact of supportive housing.

Volunteering as a coach with Speak Up! is a life-changing experience. Storytellers can provide a unique contribution to ending homelessness.

Below are the requirements to be a volunteer coach. Please check each to indicate that you understand and agree to the following: *

Coaches should be able to donate between 10-15 hours per month and commit to 1 year of service. This includes, 2 workshop days (3hrs each) once per month, and, 4-6 hours per month of coaching and follow up.

Training sessions will be held from 10am-1pm PST on the 2nd Monday and 4th Wednesday of every month, unless otherwise notified.

Coaches are expected to attend all monthly training sessions.

Coaches are expected to provide one-on-one coaching sessions with their advocate trainees.

All coaching sessions will be held remotely online until further notice.

CSH will provide opportunities for debriefing, support, and supervision to coaches. Everyone associated with the project (CSH staff, coaches, partner agency staff and Advocate Trainees) are expected to be non-judgmental and respectful of the ideas of others. Everyone’s ideas and experiences (with the exception of bigotry and prejudice) are valid and have a place in the training, intended as safe place for people to share and grow their ideas.

Coaches are invited to assist in evaluating the project, contributing workshop materials/presentations and providing feedback to staff as needed.
