Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Science Undergraduate Scholarship Application
Scholarship Description:
The NERS Scholarship program will award top students from: Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related discipline for participation in nuclear-related coursework and/or research (e.g., see http://www.clemson.edu/cecas/departments/eees/academics/minors/ners.html). The cohort of scholars can participate in professional networking opportunities through regional American Nuclear Society meetings and field trips to regional nuclear fuel cycle facilities. Scholarships in the amount of $2,500 will be awarded. Students can apply once per semester.

Scholarship applications are accepted at anytime.

Eligibility:
• Enroll and/or remain matriculated in the nuclear related coursework and/or research. (NOTE: Students progressing through the NERS minor are eligible for the scholarship even if not enrolled in a nuclear-specific course during the semester of application submission; however, failure to complete the NERS minor would break the terms of the NRC agreement.)
• Maintain satisfactory academic progress with at least a 3.0 GPA both overall and within the major science/engineering discipline
• Maintain a course load of at least 12 credit hours per semester as a full-time student in good standing (for summer scholarships, students must be full-time the previous Spring and following Fall semesters OR be enrolled in a nuclear-related course for the summer semester)
• Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

Requirements:
All scholars are required to sign the NRC service agreement indicating, among other things, that the scholar is required to work in the nuclear-related industry for 6 months for each year or partial year that they receive funding from the scholarship. The service agreement can be previewed here: https://www.clemson.edu/cecas/departments/eees/academics/minors/scholarship-svc-agreement.pdf
