Students will study advanced dance technique and performance qualities in numerous dance forms such as jazz, modern, ballet, contemporary, hip hop, and cultural dance. The curriculum will focus on cultivating the dancer's unique artistic voice, and expressive options will be expanded and refined through the study of advanced dance improvisation, composition, and movement analysis. Students will work both independently and with others to produce and present dance choreography, showcasing this work once each semester. Performance in the Fall Dance Demonstration and Spring Orchesis Dance Concert will be required of all Dance III students. Weekly mind/body fitness activities will be practiced to support the dancer’s physical conditioning. Dance III may be repeated for a maximum of two years and is open to juniors and seniors. Registration for this class will be permitted with teacher placement only.
