    About the Campaign

PURPOSE The goal of the Health Care is a Human Right campaign is to secure the fundamental right to health care for all individuals. To that end, we will build a grassroots movement to secure a state waiver to create a universal health care system in Washington State. PRINCIPLES • Universal Access: Everybody In. Nobody Out. • Affordability: No financial barriers. • Availability: All health care resources available to everyone. • Equity: Services delivered in a fair manner. • Equality: No discrimination. • Quality: Everyone has the highest standard of care. • Participation: Everyone can participate in the decisions affecting their health. • Accountability: All parts of the health care system ensure accountability to patients and the community. • Transparency: All information is transparent, understandable and readily available to everyone. STRUCTURE We are a campaign comprised of organizational members (not a coalition). There are two tiers of organizational membership: (1) endorsing organizations, who sign on in support of the above principles and are invited to general meetings where they have a voice, but not a vote, and (2) member organizations that make a significant investment of resources (financial, staff or time) and who in addition to attending general meetings may serve on committees or sub-committees. Lead organizations have one vote at general meetings, and appoint a staff person to give the vote. Committees include the Policy Committee and the Organizing Committee (which includes a Communications Sub-Committee).
